Playing songs...like dad

Today my brother came down from Ottawa. In the evening he sat down in front of the TV and started playing old songs from YouTube. Our sister remarked that it reminded us of our father sitting in front of our Music cabinet and playing our choice music on the Gerard turntable. Every evening was so delightful, and full of music!

A week has passed since you wrote this comment. I wish I had written a diary of sorts during that week, since it has gone by like a second.

I enjoyed playing the songs. I used to play songs to Father also. I wish I had appreciated the various artists he played for us, like Semmangudi or Pattammal or Anup Jalota, back then. But at least now I do.

I remember telling him once that my favourite Lata song was "Hamne dekhi hai" from Khamoshi, because it was the best poem ever written on the philosophy of love.

"Pyaar koi bol nahin
pyaar aawaz nahin
ek khamoshi hai
sunti hai, kaha karti hai"
