Viswanathan Ramamurty

During the hey days of Shankar Jaikishen, Kalyanji Anandji, LP, and other duos, Viswanathan Ramamurty composed many gems in Telugu, and a few in Hindi. My father had a 78 rpm record with Laut Gaya Gham ka Jamana, a fabulous Lata Hemanta duet composed by the VR pair.

Interesting that Father got the Hindi song "laut gaya.." but not the Telugu original, "Teeyani eenati reyi" by Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi and Suseela.

Interesting also is the fact that the male singers in both languages were northerners - Hemant from Bengal and Raghunath from Orissa.

Father did get one 78 disc of Raghunath - you must remember 'challani raja...' that Raghunath sang with Leela and Suseela for S. Dakshinamurthy.
