Warm weather...

What's worse- shoveling snow four times in a day, or life in sweltering 90 degrees plus weather? I remember father cycling in the latter, never had a chance to see if he would have liked the former.

was a Kishore song that father also liked- it is a good reflection on life.

Bhakta Tukaram

was one of father's favorite movies. It has a song by Ramakrishna. Gynana and Bhakti- the two aspects of life- were both embraced by father. Many Indians only embrace the latter, without the former.

Christmas..Hyderabadi style

We had a Christian family opposite our house in Hyderabad. We used to admire their Christmas Tree during the holidays- made it very festive. Dad would enjoy the festival too. Since all of us went to Catholic schools,we had some elements of Christian music drilled into us, including many hymns. That was a really fun time of our lives.

trip to India

I will be going to India for the third time in a year. Wish I had done that while I was studying at Northwestern...A whole host of emotions.

Punjabi music

Went to a Sikh Paath today on the invitation from a friend. Just occured to me that we did not have Punjabi music at home- either classical or pop like bhangra. Wonder how this music appealed to father...

Putting up the mosquito nets

around our bed- I always remember father coming around and making sure we were tucked in with the nets around us. Miss him so!
